I am looking to buy a camera to record my golf swing.
I don't want to spend more than 500 bucks.
What cameras are good for this purpose and are within my budget?
If you want to warn me on what NOT to buy that'll work as well.

I'm not up to date on the newest video cameras, but I do have one recommendation for you when choosing a video camera. Make sure you buy a camera with at least a 1/2000th per second shutter speed, so your swing doesn't blur. (You may be able to get away with a 1/1000th, but I wouldn't recommend it for outdoor swing capture). http://www.v1sports.com/support/kb/article.php?id=062http://www.v1sports.com/support/kb/article.php?id=019

I use my regular digital camera http://sonystyle.ca/html/multimedia/DSC/T70_microsite_html/spec.htmlIt gets 30FPS and 1/1000 shutter speed. You can look for my latest videos to see the quality. PLUS.. The camera is pretty cool.

I use a Canon A620 digital camera and use the movie/video function. It seems to work fine. I have also used a Sony DCR-HC30 mini-DV.

Did you end up getting a camera, and if so, which one? I bought a Panasonic 40 gig hard drive with sd. It has a sports mode and I can adjust the shutter speed to 1/8000th of a second. It records in mpeg format, and I haven't found a golf analysis program that can read that format. When programs convert my file to avi, they do so at 30fps which seems to negate a fast shutter speed. I am not sure what I will do at this point! Jamesh

Shutter speed and FPS are not the same thing. Have you tried uploading one of your mpegs here.. (I will admit that we normalize all videos to 30 FPS) Let me know if your MPEG video does not upload to SwingAcademy.

I am looking for a camera to post a video or two as well. I think it would be cool if in peoples profile it displayed what camera they used to take the video, then i could go window shopping on the videos for a new camera. or a thread where people can post what camera they use.
I have been looking for a used camera like yours rick, the video looks very good, but its hard to find your exact model for cheap, due to it being a brand new model.
Thanks guys, this site rocks!
