Golf is all about discipline. You must discipline yourself to swing correctly, and not chop at the ball. Many want to learn, few have the discipline. Humility is therefore key.

I go down to the range some days knowing I will not hit a single ball well, and will hack them all over the place. This is normal, and I must do it to make a change. I would have never gotten where I am today without it. I see other people on the range swinging away, hoping that somehow they are going to get better. They don't have the discipline to really, truly learn the game. They don't have the patience to do something that feels unnatural, terrible, and causes them to shank it. Those who are willing to go out and do whatever it takes, no matter how uncomfortable, will be rewarded with humility.

When you learn to be humble, you learn to be confident.

This is Ray Romano's fatal flaw on The Haney Project.
