X-Factor - The Jim McLean Lesson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg0WOJEyoPkThe main jist to the "X-factor" is that you generate alot of torque by rotating your shoulders while not rotating your hips as much. So this overhead view shows a 45 degree X-factor. This guy doesn't think the "X-factor" is legit. http://www.scigolf.com/scigolf/myths/myth7.htmAny thoughts out there ?

Yeah, it's pretty much a myth from what I know. The real question is, what can you do? If you can bend that way, good, but if not, also good. Whatever works for the individual to make the most consistent and solid contact, to produce the most predictable ball flight is the best swing.

Well, I have been trying to rotate my shoulders while not rotating my hips as much. Trying to decide if I should keep with it.
I am certainly not trying to get more length, so I should probably concentrate on other things. :)

Power is produced with the big muscles, i.e. core, not the arms.
If it was by the arms, you wouldn't need a backswing. Think about it, you'd just start at the top of the swing and go. Now, the reason you can't do this is because of the "transition". The hips start unwinding BEFORE the shoulders reach their top of backswing position.
Now, I don't think you should purposely restrict your hip turn on the backswing. Just turn your shoulders and your hips will follow. Just make sure you're not getting up off of your left heel.
However, you MUST initiate your downswing with your hips!!
