Hello Everyone.

Could you please take a look at the second video I uploaded to my profile today (May 29) and provide some feedback on my swing. I am getting a slight fade to a large slice more often than not with my driver.

Thanks in advance.

- Too upright at address
- too flat swing plane in part because ...
- Your takeaway is all hands (lots of wrist movement at the beginning of the swing)
- Your swing arc is small, in part because you take the club back with your hands, not with any body rotation. or maybe because you are inside and don't want to take a full swing.
- you are not overswinging (hands moving too far on the backswing) which is nice to see, that tends to make your swing more repeatable and controlled.

other issues: video quality is poor. lighting is poor, hard to see clubface.

Please film some real swings outside !

Thank you both for the comments.

I've uploaded two more videos, could you please take a look at them and provide your comments. These were both better drives, however, I am still seeing a slight fade. I wouldn't be so concerned with it, except that fade could really easily become a nasty slice. I definitely feel like the problem is with my driver head not being aligned, whether that is my wrists being to active during the back swing or my shoulders being to quick on the down swing, I'm not sure exactly, but I feel that my problems are in my club head.

Sorry, am I the only one that thinks analyzing a practice swing indoors is slightly pointless!?

Hi Pall

Sorry, my comment above wasn't meant as a dig at you. I've just never in my life heard of anyone trying to analyse a practice swing before. The reason being I've seen many many golfers with lovely, smooth perfect practice swings only to be followed up by something far more sinister and fault ridden as soon as that little white thing gets in the way! :-)

Apologies again for jumping on the camera bandwagon. Unfortunately, in the second two videos, due to the combination of low light, (I'm guessing) low shutter speed / frames per second on the camera you're using it's really hard to see what the club face is doing. Even in the backswing where the club is moving relatively slowly, it's impossible to make out if the face is (as I believe it will be) open.

Is there any way you can gain access to a good quality video camera? Even just borrowing it from a friend for the day. Ideally film during the day when it's clear and bright (but be careful where the sun is!) The behind view (down the line) will show the most important movements in the swing.

I have a number of theories / ideas about your golf swing but I'd really like to get a better look at it first. Also a couple of questions...

You say it's the driver that fades, what happens with the irons? Less fade? The odd pull?

Check and see where your divot points after a shot with an iron.

Could we get a good look at your grip from front on.

What do you 'feel' is happening during your takeaway? Are you trying to do anything in particular with the club, hands, body at this time?

During a 'normal' lesson all this information and more could be found out pretty quickly. Simply analysing one practice swing and a couple of dark range drives without more info is a bit reckless in my honest opinion. That's not meant as a dig at the guys who have commented and offered their help. Some of my thoughts are along the same lines but I will say more a) if you are interested and more importantly if b) we can get some clearer footage.

Hope to help more in the future....

Nick

I take it all back about the video quality. I've just posted a video of my own and the quality is much poorer than the file I uploaded :-(

Maybe you could email me the swing to look at?
